Camera Denotation and Connotation

Strength:

For this we came up with an idea to add the illusion that I was lifting the car. We managed to achieve this effect by getting the right angle in which for me to pose, and for the camera to get an effective shot.

Poverty:

For this, the rest of the group had a clever idea of a low angle shot of me hunched behind a fence which could give a connotative sense of being shut off from the rest of the world, with the fence representing a barrier between rich and poor.

Love:

This medium shot exaggerates the bond between the two. The positioning of the camera also shows the shadow of the two which strengthens the feeling of love.  

Desire:

We really struggled to come up with an image for this but this could connote a feeling of a desire to conquer something.

Danger:

For this connotation, we took the literal meaning of danger and applied it in picture form. This represents the unknown becoming known, which is a danger for human beings as our instincts tell us to get away from the unknown.

  

Wealth:

The idea of this image is to connote that he (I) is (am)  proud of owning something so large and successful (In this case this building). However, I would say that he needs to stand closer to the building just to show the vast scale between him and the building.

Loneliness:

This was shot with a long/wide shot just to show that there is nothing around him. It exaggerates the connotation of loneliness because of this.

  

Friendship:

This image connotes friendship because there is no bad/negative feeling between the two. This is also helped by the medium shot because it is not too close and it is not too far away, which can represent the relationship between the two.

Purity:

This connotation shows the purity of water, the shot which is a close up (At an angle) shows us that this water (like purity) runs clean, smoothly and true.

Greed:

This rather interesting connotation of greed shows us how badly he is after what is on the other side of the shutter. This is also shot at a close angle which gives the image a dramatic effect of want and greed.
